Welcome to the North East Manufacturing Growth Programme
The Manufacturing Growth Programme is designed to help senior managers within manufacturing companies assess and identify barriers to growth, and work with them to improve business performance and increase sales. It is funded and managed by the North East Local Enterprise Partnership, a strategic organisation that aims to improve the region’s economy.

Manufacturing growth programmes often focus on shop floor improvements. Important as this is, the clear difference with this activity is that it focuses on growing the business as a whole. This will help you to apply innovations, Create jobs, Improve productivity and access new markets.

Our advisers are industry experts who will work with you to develop a growth strategy and address your specific manufacturing and management issues.

Eligible companies for this programme meet the following criteria:

       •    Based within the local authority areas of Northumberland, Newcastle, Gateshead, South Tyneside, North Tyneside, Sunderland or Durham
       •    A small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) i.e. has fewer than 250 employees and a turnover of less than 50 million euros.

And either:

       a.    Fit within one of the North East LEP’s priority sector areas; automotive and advanced manufacturing, creative and digital, life sciences or subsea and offshore
              OR
       b.    Has an aspiration to significantly grow their business. This is defined as 20% growth in turnover or employee numbers per annum.

Each eligible business joining the Manufacturing Growth Programme will receive direct consultancy support, with the programme fully funded by the North East Local Enterprise Partnership.

Successful applicants will be assigned a dedicated consultant to work with their senior management/plant lead team who will provide up to four half days of support. The visits will involve an in-depth assessment, development of an action plan and specific activity required to support business growth.
